We like breakfast for dinner at our house. Tonight was more or less breakfast food of your choice. Hubs and I opted for poached eggs and applewood smoked bacon. Kids had pancakes.
He ate his eggs smashed up in a bowl. I ate mine on toasted ciabatta. Why ciabatta ? Because I like my poached eggs with toast. But I am also a notoriously bad shopper. This one lone ciabatta roll was the only bread in the house.
I Frequently go shopping with a list on paper or in my head and inevitably leave something off. The only question is what. Lately it's been bread and pool chemicals.
Any day now we'll wake up and the pool will have bloomed overnight and covered in green algae. Super. And then it's all my fault bc my memory sucks. Sue me.
Sorry, what was I talking about? I was talking about bread right? So eggs on ciabatta are good. Applewood Bacon is good (duh).
Off topic aside. Trader Joe's pumpkin pie. Really good. That is from someone who doesn't even like pumpkin pie. TJ version of cool whip superior to the name brand. Just get a spoon and eat it out of the container. Don't even try to act like you're eating it with something else. It's awesome alone. I recommend it. Highly.
#2 son crying. Guess I should go tend to that before we reach defcon 3.
I'm not a big fan of poached eggs mainly since I don't know how to cook them well. On the other hand, I do like soft boiled eggs that I used to eat as a youngster. I don't know why that has gone away from mainstream. Maybe its the high amount of yellow stuff. Nothing like a good runny egg (the yellow stuff, not the white stuff) on toast.
ReplyDeleteBTW, is "he" Hubs or No. 1 Son? Eating smashed poached eggs made me think No. 1 Son but Hubs was probably sulking since you didn't make him waffles.
Hubs eats poached eggs smashed in a bowl with salt and pepper. #1 son would not eat a poached egg to save his life. He had the waffles. I like mine smashed on toast or with crumbled up saltine crackers. Growing up that was the home from school sick breakfast of champions. Every bit as good today as it was then.
